According to the math, which is impossible to understand, there are a staggering 400 million ways to tie an average seven-eyed stomper, according to the renowned New Scientist publication. Luckily, we’re not going to look at all of them today, but here are some of the most important lacing methods that are worth filling your boots with.
1. Cross-Lacing
Look at your sneakers. The reason why they are not currently falling off is likely to be held in place with this type of lacing. According to Kacamata Rayban, the most common method of attaching cross-lacing shoes is to thread the cord through the lower eyelets, leave each side of the same length and gradually cross to the point of each additional eyelet.

Steps :
– Both ends of the shoelaces should be pushed down through the lower two eyelets, both of which must be of the same length.
– Take the left cord and put it down through the top of the second eyelet on the right. It should go over the tongue now.
– Do exactly the same with the other cord and run it down through the top of the next eyelet on the left.
– Continue lacing side by side in this way, being careful to pass each line through the top of each eyelet.
2. European Straight Lacing
If you have ever worn a pair of closed lace-up shoes, it is very likely that they have been attached this way. This method works well for Oxford shoes and other elegant models because it looks clean and tidy from the top. The laces run straight from eyelet to eyelet over the top of the shoe, while a zigzag pattern underneath allows them to be easily tightened.

Steps :
– Insert both tip ends down into each of the lower holes.
– Take the left cord and run it up through the next free right eyelet.
– Take the right cord and pin it up and through the third eyelet on the left, skipping the second. There should now be an empty hole on the left.
– Now insert the right cord down into this free eyelet, which should be directly opposite.
– Follow this process to completion and repeat the above steps for each line.
3. Over-Under Lacing
Great for trainers or to add a touch of personality to dress shoes and sneakers. Lacing that is too low pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin. Start in the same way as making a cross point, but do not go to the next set of eyelets, but go under. Then go over the top to the next set of eyelets and alternate in this pattern until you are at the top.

Steps :
– Insert both tip ends down into each of the lower holes.
– Put the left cord up and through the next free right eyelet.
– Do the same with the other tip – run it up and through the first free left eyelet.
– Take the right cord and put it down through the next available left eyelet.
– Do the same with the other tip and repeat until you finish.
